Here are a few items to kick-off the blog:

2016 Season Officially Gets Started

Tryouts started on a hot and steamy afternoon of August 25th. The intense pace continued into Friday and Saturday. We now have a group of young men that will participate in the 2016 Southington High soccer program across the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. I know the message that each of the individuals personally received from Couch Yanosy included the fact that this is just the first step in the hard work and dedication that will be required to meet the high objectives for the season. Congratulations to all members of the 2016 team!

Traditions

Traditions are an important part of any family or organization. Traditions link the past to thepresent and create a shared history across generations. One of the special traditions of the Southington High Soccer program is the annual Alumi game held every Labor Day weekend. Southington Soccer is very fortunate to have a very active and engaged group of former players as part of its alumni group. On Sunday September 4th, the current team and alumi will come together for a morning of soccer and fun at Rec Park. The event starts early with a game between the current Freshman and JV teams at 8am. This will be followed by the highlight of the day when the Varsity team takes on on the Alumni team. The day ends with a picnic with food and drinks supplied by alumi and members of the current team. This is a great way to set the tone for the season and give the current players and families on the team the opportunity to realize that they are part of something that is much bigger and broader than they might have realized.
