Blue Knight’s on the Pitch: A look Back and a Look Forward

Varsity:

Tuesday evening the Blue Knights battled Windsor High School on home turf. The main theme from this game was the great connections made by the Southington players resulting in scoring chances. The first goal of the game came mid-way through the first half when Alexus Frausto crossed the ball in the front of the goal and Colin Burbank found the back of the net for a 1-0 Southington lead. The first half ended with that 1-0 score. The second half started with a flurry as Cameron Zegzdryn lofted the ball across the field into the box and Dan Topper finished with a header and the Blue Knights were up 2-0. The next two goals featured the sophomore dynamic duo of Alexus Frausto and Joe Calaccino On each goal, Alexus set up Joe and Joe finished each opportunity to cap the scoring for Southington and a 4-0 victory.

If you didn’t catch it, the Record Journal did a very nice article following this game with some fantastic pictures. See link below.

On Friday, the boys traveled to Hall High School for what they knew would be a challenging game against a high quality opponent. Very early into the game, the Blue Knight generated two very good scoring chances in rapid succession. On each shot, the Hall goalie made nice saves. These would be the best chances of the match for Southington. Hall scored late in the first half and very competitive half ended with Hall leading 1-0. Hall started the second half strong with a quick goal. Hall continued to create opportunities that resulted in goals and the Blue Knights where handed a very tough loss as Hall scored 4 times in the second half for a 5-0 win.

Our Blue Knights off the Field

The boys were put to work in support of the annual Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s Plainville. We thank everyone who came out on a rainy Sunday morning to support the program.

Also, over the last two weeks the boys have been working at the Southington Soccer Alumni stand at the Apple Harvest Festival. The alumni association uses the funds generated by the stand to support activities for our soccer program.
